To all our SLPPNA members, friends and sympathizers.

As we are all aware, a meeting was held last month with the SLPPNA Chairman Mr. Mohamed Bah and his executives including the SLPPNA general membership informing us about the cancellation of the SLPPNA-YG event in collaboration with the DVC Inauguration that was scheduled for April 4th 2020.

As chairman Bah expressed the reasons for canceling our event was due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic that continues to ravage the whole world including the United states and the fourteen days State of Emergency declaration by the President of the United States President Donald Trump on all traveling and public guarding to be put on hold.

The State of Emergency declaration has just been extended for another thirty days as the country’s authorities are trying very hard to put this Pandemic under control.

In lights of the above, we are appealing to all SLPPNA members, chapters, friends and sympathizers who has bought and sold tickets to friends and the public for the event to HOLD on to those tickets as those tickets are still VALID.

The SLPPNA-YG and the DVC chapter are working together tirelessly to come up with a date to host this very important event. We will continue to update everyone as event unfold with regards to the new date for our event.

We thank you all for your understanding through this difficult times.

The SLPPNA Executive On March 24th filed a petition with the PPRC against residency clauses proposed in the newly proposed gazetted SLPP constitution for Flagbearer and Member of Parliament party candidates calling it unconstitutional.

Dear SLPPNA Members,

The world is experiencing an unprecedented health crisis that is threatening human civilization. Health professionals are craving our indulgence to help eliminate the rapid spread of the Corona virus that is ravaging communities all around the world. The Regional Chairman, Mr. Mohamed Bah and Executive have been very concerned about the developments of this virus and has taken the necessary steps to ensure that the region complies with the advice coming from the World Health Organization, the Center of Disease Control, the President of the United States and State Officials. As we all are aware, a national emergency has been declared by the President of the United States and a moratorium has been placed on social gatherings for thirty days.

Due to this emergency, the regional executive believes that the safety of our members both home and abroad must be protected, and we must abide by the guidelines provided by health professions in the United States. In a dialogue with the chapters hosting events in the immediate future, the Chairman and Regional Executive agreed to postpone the events scheduled before April 15th, 2020. It was unanimously agreed that the New Jersey inauguration and the young generation events scheduled for March 28th, 2020 and April 4th, 2020 respectively, would be postponed.

However, the Ohio and North Carolina Chapter Inaugurations are still on track as we monitor the progress of the corona virus.  In the general membership meeting held on 3/13/2020, the region agreed that both the Ohio and North Carolina chapters will continue to make preparations for their events as we closely monitor the situation.

The Regional executive is joining health experts to appeal to all our members to continue to take precautionary steps to protect themselves and their families, by following the guidelines provided by the Center for Disease Control in the areas of social distancing (stay away from people) and personal hygiene (Wash your hands frequently).

As we closely monitor this unfolding pandemic, we will continue to update the region about any developments.
